Tell me about the Big Bus Tour of New York

Big Bus Tours New York offer sightseeing tours of the Big Apple on open-top double-decker buses. During the tour, entertaining and informative commentary is provided either by experienced English-speaking guides, or via pre-recorded commentary, which you can listen in to via complimentary headphones supplied on board. You may hop on and off at any of the tour stops to visit attractions and places of interest. There are five tour routes: Uptown (Blue Route), Downtown (Red Route), Midtown (Purple Route), the Brooklyn Tour (Green Route) and the Night Tour (Yellow Route).

What can I see and visit?

There are over 35 stops across our 5 routes where you can hop on and off your tour. Each stop has been selected because it provides convenient access to an attraction or place of interest. You can hop on and off your tour as many times as you wish, and are of course welcome to stay on board for the entire tour route. Which days do the tours operate?

Big Bus New York runs every day of the year, except for New Year’s Eve. Occasionally severe weather and special event days could affect service. Please see our service information for up-to-date details.

How long does the tour take?

Downtown Loop (Red Route): A full circuit is approx. 150 minutes.

Uptown Loop (Blue Route): A full circuit is approx. 150 minutes.

Midtown Loop (Purple Route): A full circuit is approx. 90 minutes.

Brooklyn Tour (Green Route): A full circuit is 1 hour.

Night Tour (Yellow Route): A full circuit is 2 hours.

Do I need to specify a date of travel?

No, you can use your ticket on any date. If you purchase a 2-day or 3-day ticket you must travel on consecutive days.

You are welcome to buy your ticket on the day if that is your preference, but please note that discounts online are not available on same-day purchases.

How does the website discount work?

Is there a discount available for groups?

Yes, discounts are available for groups of 20 or more. To find out more, submit an enquiry using our group booking information page.

Is it possible to hire one of the open-top buses for a private event?

What is the child ticketing policy?

A child ticket is available for children aged between 5 and 15 years. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Children aged 4 years and under may travel free of charge. Children aged 15 years and under must be accompanied by an adult. Strollers must be folded and stowed on the lower deck.

How will I know where to get off?

The tour guide or pre-recorded commentary on the bus will announce each stop by number and location as the bus approaches. Please refer to our routes & maps information to plan which stops you would like to hop off at.

How do I redeem my ticket?

Show your printed ticket to a member of staff at one of our stops or aboard the bus. They'll issue you a receipt that you'll be able to use to hop on the bus throughout the validity of your ticket.

If you requested to have your tickets sent via SMS, remember that there is no need to print your tickets. Just bring your phone with you with the ticket page open to show it to one of our on street staff who will issue you your ticket.

Are accommodations available for persons with disabilities?

Yes, 100% of our New York fleet is wheelchair accessible. The wheelchair lifts on our vehicles have a maximum capacity of 650 pounds. If you require a different accommodation, please contact us 48 hours prior to your planned tour commencement so we can make arrangements for an accommodation. Please note that messages left on the office general voicemail do not constitute confirmed arrangements. Please also note that passengers with mobility impairments may not be able to access the upper deck on our buses. We cannot guarantee the accessibility of the various attractions along the tour.

Is luggage allowed on board the bus?

No, luggage is not permitted on board the bus at this time.
