The hardest thing about organising date night is choosing which of the many romantic restaurants in New York to take your loved one to. There’s dreamy dining rooms, cosy hideaways, tasty taverns, you’re truly spoilt for choice. A charming evening away from the energetic city that never sleeps. And the best bit is, style doesn’t compromise the food and wine offering here. You really can have it all.

Here’s cupid’s guide to the top 3 romantic restaurants in New York…

Rainbow Room

If it’s good enough for the Kennedys, it’s good enough for us. The Rainbow Room historic lounge has been serving up romance since 1934. The views are spectacular, especially at sunset, and the interior decor simply stunning. It has a classic, rather old-money vibe about it, with a dress to the nines attire code (jackets are required). And the food certainly fits the setting. Think oysters, king crab and lobster, as well as a good old-fashioned burger. The Rainbow Room has had a great influence on American cocktail culture, so an after dinner toast with one of their famous tipples is a must. One for your romantic things to do in New York list for sure. Reserve well in advance.

The Loeb Boathouse

One of the most romantic restaurants in New York, The Loeb Boathouse, nestled in Central Park, combines fine dining with serene park views. Right by the lake, the experience feels alfresco, whether you’re inside the dining room or out on the terrace.  The menu however might surprise you. Old favourites like mac and cheese, beef chilli, burger and shrimp salad, all served in the most decadent way. The crab cakes are simply divine, our top of the list recommendation. While this romantic restaurant in New York might be a little on the pricey side, the culinary experience and setting make it well worthwhile.

The Rotunda

The Pierre’s most iconic room, The Rotunda offers afternoon and supper dining in the most sublime setting. Ornate and lavish, the dining room was revamped in 2016 by renowned architect and designer Daniel Romualdez. With a black tie theme, the menu fits the bill with dishes like French onion soup, poached shrimp cocktail and spaghetti and meatballs. Then, if you can take your eyes off one another, in the centre of the room you’ll see a table spilling with chilled champagne and tiers of sweet treats. A perfect way to end your meal. It certainly makes our top 3 of the most romantic restaurants in New York list.
