Abu Dhabi in May

Being an oasis in a desert, it should be no surprise that Abu Dhabi is hot all year round. With most months reaching sweltering temperatures the best time to go is when the spring season starts in May. Spend your days relaxing by the corniche or working on your tan at the beach.

It’s also worth taking a trip to Heritage Village while the weather is cool, where you’ll learn more about Arab culture, find hidden treasures and immerse yourself in the city’s traditions. Emirates Palace is free to enter and gives a new meaning to luxury living, explore the sprawling 5-star resort, stop for a bite to eat and keep your eyes open for its A-list clientele. The average temperature is still high at 31°C so we recommend packing lots of sun cream and stopping for regular water breaks.

Memorial Day Weekend marks the start of summer and is one of Las Vegas’s biggest weekends, with locals and tourists swapping the casinos and bars on the strip for fun in the sun. Cinco de Mayo takes places on May 5th with a celebration of events, food and live entertainment usually taking place over the following weekend. There’s also the Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) that sees fans of electronic dance music paint the town red for three days straight. The weather averages 30°C during the day, so if you’re not by a pool people are usually trying to win big at the nearest roulette table.
