Reducing Single-Use Plastics |Big Bus Tours
To reduce the amount of single-use plastics we consume as a business, Big Bus Tours is proud to provide our customers with a greener option for tour headphones. The headphones are now made from Prime-P plastic, which reduces carbon emissions by approximately 25% during manufacturing and 34% during transportation compared with our previous headphones.
The packaging for the headphones has been replaced from plastic bags to eco-friendly cellulose bags. The new packaging is completely biodegradable, and is indicated on the bag. This transition eliminates approximately 5,000 kg of plastic waste and reduces packaging-related carbon emissions by 52–75%. 2025 was our first full year using these alternative headphones and packaging, and we expect our carbon savings to continue growing.
While headphones are our largest area of single-use plastic consumption, Big Bus Tours is committed to tackling this issue from all angles. Employees around the world are encouraged to follow best practices to reduce plastic waste, including using reusable alternatives such as reusable water bottles and bags, bulk purchasing, choosing sustainable packaging where possible, and recycling plastic when its use cannot be avoided.
