Horse-Drawn Carriage Tour Highlights

Be transported back in time as you travel through the streets of Vienna's Old Town on a traditional Fiaker (horse-drawn carriage). You'll see the city's iconic sights from a romantic perspective as you recline in a traditional cabriolet carriage, passing by landmarks like the Hofburg Imperial Palace and St Peter's Church. Each ticket is valid for a 20-minute hire of an entire carriage, which seats up to 4 people. Fiaker Tours operate between April 1 - October 31.

1 family ticket is valid for a maximum of 4 people of any age. You do not have to be related to use the family ticket. No advance reservation is required. Please redeem your ticket voucher with a Big Bus Tours staff member prior to boarding a Fiaker Tour. Fiaker Tours operate between April 1 - October 31.

Fiaker Facts

"Fiaker" comes from the french word, fiacre, which references the Parisian street, Rue de Saint Fiacre, where the horse-drawn four-wheeled carriages were commonly available for hire. In the 1700s, Vienna's "Janschky" coaches were renamed "fiakers".

Fiaker History

Bwtween 1860-1900 there were more than 1,000 fiakers on the road in Vienna. Charismatic drivers were valued for both their singing performances and their discretion, particularly when carrying aristocratic gentlemen and their mistresses.
