Located about 90 miles north of Washington DC, the town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, is home to the Gettysburg Battlefield, the site of one of the largest battles of the American Civil War. Fought by Union and Confederate soldiers between July 1 and 3, 1863, the battle was the most costly in US history, with up to 51,000 casualties from both armies. Four months later, in November 1863, President Abraham Lincoln's historic Gettysburg Address took place here at the dedication of the Soldiers' National Cemetery.
About The Tour
Your tour begins when you board the coach at Washington DC's Union Station. On your journey to Gettysburg, your coach driver will keep you entertained with facts and stories about DC and Gettysburg, pointing our sights and landmarks along the way. In Gettysburg you'll visit the Shriver House Museum and the state-of-the-art Visitor Center before heading to the Gettysburg battlefield, where one of the Visitor Center's award-winning local guides will board the motor coach to share their expertise. You'll visit battlefield landmarks, with short stops along the way to get off and explore. After the battlefield tour you'll depart Gettysburg for the journey back to Union Station.

This full-day tour gives you a comprehensive introduction to Gettysburg. First you'll explore the Shriver House Museum, a restored homestead filled with Civil War-era artifacts that reveals how civilians were affected by the battle. Next you'll visit the Gettysburg Visitor Center, which gives a detailed orientation to the history of Gettysburg and the battle. Key points of interest here include the short film (narrated by Morgan Freeman), the famous 360-degree Cyclorama painting, and the museum's many artifacts. The centerpiece of the tour is a two-hour visit to the Gettysburg battlefield, narrated by a local guide. Your coach will tour key landmarks like Big and Little Round Top, Devil's Den, the Peach Orchard and more, with brief stops along the way so you can hop off and explore.
The Gettysburg Full-Day Tour is operated by Gray Line Tours. The tour departs at 8:00am from the Bus Terminal Level at Washington DC's Union Station (50 Massachusetts Ave NE). Please check in at the Gray Line office by 7:45am at the latest to guarantee ridership on the tour. Once the tour departs, guests cannot join along the route. Tours operate between April 1 - November 30, on Monday, Thursday & Saturday ONLY. Please note that lunch, optional gratuities and hotel pick-up/drop-off are not included.
