While we would never suggest choosing your holiday destination based on how instagrammable it is (or would we?), how picture-perfect a place is, is an important factor to many of us when booking a trip. So we’re happy to use Instagram for inspiration.
We’ve selected 5 of the most instagrammable places in the world to add to your bucket list – don’t blame us if you suffer from #friendvy after a visit (that’s friend envy to you and I). Landmarks don’t come more iconic than this:
The Colosseum, Rome

The Eiffel Tower, Paris
The most visited monument in the whole wide world, imagine how many selfies are taken and instagrammed at the Eiffel Tower. Originally intended to stand for just 20 years, and once called a “useless and monstrous” piece by French writer Guy de Maupassant, today it proudly towers Paris attracting visitors in the millions. You can scale it, or just stand and be amazed by it, but be sure to capture your moment at one of the most instagrammable places in the world. And if you happen to be there at night, you’ll get to see the tower sparkle too, magic.

Hungarian Parliament, Budapest
The largest building in the country, Hungarian Parliament is an overwhelmingly beautiful building. Everything and everyone that contributed to its build had to be Hungarian, so it is a true national gem. Decorated on the outside with hundreds of turrets and statues, and opulently embellished with over 40 kilos of 24-carat pure gold foil on the inside. It sets the perfect scene for your holiday snaps. And when you’re there, make sure you check out the eight giant Swedish granite columns at the grand staircase, gifted by the Swedish king. The only other four in the world can be found in the Palace of Westminster.

Sydney Opera House, Sydney
A UNESCO World Heritage site, the Sydney Opera House is a worldwide-recognised landmark of Australia. Inspired by bird wings, shells, clouds and palm trees, architect Jorn Utzon actually only won £5,000 for his design. And yet today it is visited by over 8 million visitors each year. Insta-worthy alone for being Arnold Schwarzenegger’s stage where he won the Mr Olympia bodybuilding title in 1980, it’s the attraction that will tell all of your followers you’re living your best life. Add it to your ‘most instagrammable places in the world’ bucket list.

The London Eye, London
Did you know, the London Eye welcomes more visitors each year than the Taj Mahal and the Great Pyramids of Giza? Impressive right. The iconic observation wheel of London has celebrities selfying in front of it (supermodel Kate Moss has taken a turn at least 25 times now), which only adds to the reason why it is one of the most instagrammable places in the world. Hop aboard on a clear day and you’ll get to see as far out as Windsor Castle. That’s one way to see the entire city of London.
