The Dubai Shopping Festival kicks off with a bang – literally. At the end of December, on day one of this epic event, the skies light up with a firework display like no other. Then again every weekend and at the closing event also. To enjoy this spectacle, time your dinner plans right and head down to Al Seef, La Mer, Dubai Creek, Dubai Festival or The Beach at JBR for an impressive backdrop to your evening. Each year getting bigger and better in true Dubai fashion. Which leads us onto our next reason why you should visit the Dubai Shopping Festival. Fashion shows around the world are very exclusive and expensive to attend. Fashion shows at the Dubai Shopping Festival are absolutely free and a great way to scope out the trends you want to buy into. Flash mobs regularly break out in shopping malls, and in the Dubai Mall the ice rink is transformed into a catwalk.
Now for the important bit: the shopping. More than 700 brands across 3,200 outlets take part in the Dubai Shopping Festival. Getting the event revved up is the 12-hour sale with discounts of up to a staggering 90% at Majid Al Futtaim malls between 12pm and 12am. Taking part are the Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Mirdif, City Centre Deira, City Centre Me’aisem, City Centre Al Barsha and City Centre Al Shindagha. After this time you can expect to enjoy up to 75% off. Weekend surprises are announced just 24 hours in advance with prices being further slashed at select retailers and brands every Thursday, Friday and Saturday during the festival. Keep your ear to the ground, these sales start at 10am and end when stocks sell out. Then for four Wednesday evenings in January, the Shop The Night Away event gets underway. Giveaways, promotions and gifts are up for grabs with every purchase, and in-store fashion and styling events are hosted with the city’s top editors.
