HARRODS - bus stop outside Harrods, Brompton Road Knightsbridge, Harvey Nichols, Sloane Street

Harrods

At our Big Bus Knightsbridge stop you can disembark to visit this most prestigious and famous of stores. Established in 1849 by Charles Harrod it was originally a small grocery store which specialised in tea. By the turn of the century it had become one of London’s largest stores with the addition of several floors. The world’s very first escalator was installed here in 1898!
The store attracts many celebrity customers (the association between Dodi -son of owner Mohammed Al-Fayed - and Princess Diana is well-known) but it has also had celebrity staff – future James Bond Pierce Brosnan once worked here in the perfume department!
In the winter our open-top tour customers can enjoy stunning views of the Harrods lights – some 12,000 light bulbs - of which 300 have to replaced daily!
